In-home Newborn Sessions

Documenting all of the love a newborn brings in the comfort of your own home. Just you and your baby, captured naturally.

IN-HOME NEWBORN SESSIONS

I believe babies are perfect the way they are. Their skin, their smell, their little noses. Completely pure and perfect. All different, all unique, all beautiful.

My aim is to document you and your family in a natural & relaxed way. I will capture the love between you and your new baby so you can look back and remember this fleeting moment in time.

Newborn sessions take place in your own home, with your home as the backdrop. These in-home lifestyle sessions are typically very unposed and focus on telling the story of you as a family just as you are. I will take lots of pictures of baby on his/her own, focusing on all the tiny details. For those images I might photograph baby on your bed, in their cot/bassinet, in the arms of mum and dad or somewhere else in or around your home.

Newborn sessions are best to take place when your baby is between 7 and 14 days, you can expect tiny, curly and sleepy babies at this age.

If you have a newborn older than 14 days I can still help you.  An older baby will likely be awake during the session and my focus will be on their eye contact, movement, and everything that makes them who they are at this point in time.

This FAQ section will answer many , if not all, of your questions about a newborn session with me. Should you have anything else that you would like answered, please get in touch with me via the contact page and I will respond promptly.

When is the best time to book a newborn session?
Please schedule your newborn session while you are still pregnant. I only secure a very limited number of due dates per month to guarantee my availability when you deliver and to be able to offer each and every one of my clients the best customer service. If you have already had your baby please still contact me and I will try my best to accommodate you!
What is the best age to photograph a newborn?

If you really want photos of your sweet, new baby asleep and dreamy, then it’s best to do your session within the 7-14 days. If you’re happy with a more awake, interactive images of your baby, a session can take place any time within the first couple of months.

What if my baby arrives early/late? Will you still be able to fit me in?

When you make your booking for your newborn session, I make a note of your estimated due date on my calendar.
If your baby happens to arrive earlier or later than expected, this is no problem.  I keep my week day schedule quite flexible to accommodate the unpredictability of babies. I also understand that some of our sweet little ones need a little extra time in the hospital as well. In these cases, we will adjust the time to schedule your newborn session when baby is home and heathy.

What do we wear to our session?

Neutral Tones for the Win: One golden rule for any photoshoot, whether it’s maternity or newborn, is to stick to neutral tones and solid colours!

Off whites, cream, beige, taupe and earthy hues like soft greys, muted blues, and subtle browns. These tones not only photograph beautifully but also create a timeless and cohesive look for the whole family.

Once you have a spot on my calendar, I will send you a full guide on how to prepare for your session.

How do I prepare my home for a newborn photography session?

There is nothing special that you need to do to prepare for your in-home newborn photography session and you certainly don’t need a “perfect” house. Through the use of available natural light, I will showcase your beautiful family, in your family home, just as you are.

It is helpful to remove any clutter, but please don’t feel that you need to spring clean every surface. If needed, I will move things around to create the optimum shot.

Where will you photograph my baby?

Rooms that I will most likely use during your session are the nursery, master bedroom and lounge. The first thing I’ll do when I arrive is to  scope out the best available light and work from there.

Are parents and siblings Included?

Yes, parents and siblings are encourged to join in the session!

The images we create will always focus on joy, love and connection with your baby being the focus of the session.

How soon will it be until I see my photos?

I aim for a turn around time of 1-2 weeks, if not sooner.

Do you sell printed photos and other photography products?
